Bertram, known as the ring bearer, grows wild in Asia, the Mediterranean and the Caucasus. It is an annual plant that grows up to 30 cm. It belongs to the Asteraceae family. It looks very similar to chamomile, hence m.in its English name: Spanish chamomile. In Poland, it is cultivated and sometimes occurs as an ephemerophite.
Bertram root is a spice with a pungent, spicy taste and medicine. In Arab countries, the herb is also used, and in India pickled herbs are eaten like a vegetable. Bertram contains a number of unique, active compounds with multidirectional action. It contains anacillin – a substance with anticonvulsant, antiepileptic and antidepressant properties.
Properties of bertram
The nun recommended bertram as a spice for everyone, healthy and sick. As bertram does not leave undigested residues, it contributes to improved digestion and optimal absorption. Therefore, it prevents nutrient deficiencies and the accumulation of toxins. Bertram is one of the most effective herbs for treating dementia and Alzheimer's disease.

How to use bertram?
The maximum dose of bertram should not exceed 4 grams per day.

DECOCTION | 3 grams of powder per 100 ml of water once a day |
In the case of an epileptic attack, the patient is given a mixed bertram powder with honey to sniff. In the case of toothache and inflammation of the mouth, infusion rinses are used.
St. Hildegard recommended consuming a teaspoon of powdered bertram root 3 or 4 times a day for medicinal purposes. Preferably with bread or as a seasoning for soups, groats and vegetables. Or infusion – – a tablespoon of ground root is brewed for 10 minutes in a glass of boiling water.
Cleansing treatment

Strain and drink warm
Bertram can be grown in home gardens. The plant likes sunny positions, prefers slightly calcareous soil. To make it grow better, it is good to plant it between stones, trellises, etc. In winter, it must be secured or moved indoors.
