Oregano [Latin: Origanum vulgare], also known as wild marjoram or marjoram, is a perennial perennial found in Europe and Western Asia, reaching up to 80 cm in height. It blooms from June to August, and we can recognize it by its delicate, light pink flowers. It is said that the name derives from ancient Greece, from the words oros – mountain and ganos – ornament, which was supposed to mean the decoration of the mountain. The herbal raw material used as a spice is the oregano herb, but it is worth knowing that the medicinal oil of this plant is equally popular. Due to the appropriate growing conditions, oregano grown in the Mediterranean region has the most aroma. Currently, oregano is used in kitchens all over the world, although almost everyone associates it most with Italian cuisine. The iconic blend of Provencal herbs would not offer such a full flavor and aroma without the addition of oregano.
